Wing

Defenders: 2 regiments of Marik Militia
Rebels: Terran Resistance (non-Mech, irregular foot infantry, unknown size)
Battles: Crow’s Nest (Region), Wyvern (Region)
Briefing:
The Wing star system was a joint possession of the Free Worlds League and the Terran Hegemony during the Star League. Before the historic union was agreed upon Wing belonged solely to a Great House unlike most other shared worlds which were usually Terran. This resource rich system had consented to join the Free Worlds League rather than the Federation of Skye because House Marik quite simply made them a better deal. The price must have seemed small to Marik negotiators, as it does today, since all four moons of Wing have always been extremely valuable for their great mineral wealth. Despite the outside interest in their world the denizens have always remained aloof and really seem to care less about the rest of the Human Sphere. Many attribute this attitude to the fact that the cities of Wing are located high in the clouds thanks to the planet’s dense atmosphere. Its potential as a trade world and the lack of any true national loyalty led to Wing’s mutual ownership. Saved from the Amaris Coup by the presence of the FWLM on world the natives hardly took notice of the drop in commerce and eventual break up of the Star League.
Currently two regiments of the Marik Militia garrison Wing in the name of the Free Worlds League. These units rapidly rotate on and off world to remain combat ready while causing uncertainty about their exact composition. As a result CIB has been unable to determine the specific units of the Marik Militia involved in the occupation of Wing. A stringent naval blockade by the Free Worlds Navy has prevented the resupply of resistance group on planet. However, aid to a small minority of actual Terran citizens who may be willing to fight for their freedom seems like a futile exercise. Most natives while they may sympathize with the New Republic support House Marik as their rightful rulers and don’t want to be bothered by an insurgency. Consequently SAFE has been pretty successful in com bating the Terran Resistance on Wing. Only the rebels use of gliders and para-tactics keep Marik agents off guard while taking the war to the occupation force. Attacks on the largest cities of Crow’s Nest and Wyvern are often followed by the Resistance making its escape via improvised parachutes to their safe areas in the lowlands of Wing.
