Styx

Defenders: 2nd Proserpina Hussars
Rebels: Terran Resistance (non-Mech, irregular foot infantry, unknown size)
Battles: Sunder Falls (Region)
Briefing:
The importance of this planet to both the Terran Republic and the Draconis Combine can not be underestimated. One of the most mineral rich worlds known to man, Styx has enormous deposits of valuable metals and radioactive minerals. This fact alone lends the star system a strategically vital importance to any interstellar nation. However this world also holds another special, but less tangible importance as the site of the first BattleMech combat in Inner Sphere history when a lance of Terran Mackies battled a company of Draconian Tanks. An overwhelming Terran victory that solidified the BattleMech as the dominant war-machine, the battle has always had a place in the memories of commanders from both sides of the border. This has made Styx an irresistible prize to the DCMS High Command who have always wanted and opportunity to seize control of the planet and erase the stain on their honor. Given the chance when Stephan Amaris foolishly abandoned Styx, the Draconis Combine was quick to occupy the planet despite the nearby presence of large SLDF forces. General Kerensky quickly disabused House Kurita of any occupation notions soon thereafter when liberating SLDF troops forcibly ejected the unwelcome DCMS task force. Unfortunately, as the Regular Army continued its push for Terra, House Kurita quickly returned to Styx more determined then ever to hold the world for the glory of the Dragon.
Since then, DCMS occupation efforts have been quite successful, nearly suffocating any organized resistance on-planet. Garrisoning the world, the 2nd Proserpina Hussars have been accompanied by a large conventional force of armor and infantry that conduct most of the day-to-day policing. Because of this, the Hussars are almost completely free to pursue off-world raiding deep into local Terran space. Besides the large body of troops present, the DCA blockade of the planet has choked off CIB aid to any resistance cells, further strengthening the occupation’s hold on the planet. In addition the ISF has been omnipresent on Styx, rooting out dissidents with ruthless efficiency. Perhaps most diabolical was their recent “hostile” takeover of the Styx Mining Corporation. Many of the company’s employees were rounded up and replaced by handpicked Kurita cronies to help expand the Dragon’s control over the world’s economy. This has allowed the Bureau of Hospitality Towards New Lands, part of the Ministry of Court, to proceed at a brisk pace with the Dragon’s planned assimilation of Styx. The only city on Styx where the Terran Resistance is still retaining its grip is the capital, Sunder Falls. The city remains the last bastion of Terran support and is in serious danger of collapsing under the total domination of the Draconis Combine.
