Born in the illegitimate branch of House Davion (for more information on this topic, please consult our special articles in the 2720s with obvious proofs of this), John Davion was from birth raised and trained as the heir to be. For example, after serving in the AFFS, he was appointed in 2740 to an important position in the Ministry of Ways and Exchanges where his real job was to manage the secret empire of the Davion family.

The Chancellor’s Military Reform

Once more our beloved Chancellor has shown her concern for her people in those dark times. She has decided in the best interest of all Capellans that tax levels would increase by 5%. The funds raised will not be used to fuel war (unlike our warmonger neighbors of House Marik and House Davion) but to increase the efficiency of the “New Model Army”, which is currently being built.

Puffed Up or Confident?

All along our borders the warmongers of House Davion and Marik are again rattling sabers. Our valiant military personnel are kissing loved ones goodbye as they receive orders to report to our forward most bases. Even our reserves are going through refresher courses as fast as they can be sent to our training facilities.

Will this be enough to forestall strikes from our neighbors? Doubtful, given our conflicts in the past. However the Chancellor has strengthened our defensive forces with several mercenary units from the former SLDF. These units, with their ten years of combat experience will form a bulwark which our own freedom loving soldiers can establish a defensive hedge which will surely throw back any invader.

Matter of Trust

Can you really trust a Capellan? While this question might be a vast over simplification it does accurately gauge the feelings of Terrans living along the Confederation border. Despite signs of goodwill from House Liao everyone knows how quickly that could change. After all the Celestial Throne has amassed quite a reputation for opportunistic behavior over the ages. So what can we expect to see? Unfortunately no one knows for sure but there are several facts in evidence that cold point the way.

Fiscal Rebound

Our proud economy is on the rebound after the collapse of the once mighty Star League. The new Capellan Yuan or Liao Bill is rapidly ascending across the currency markets of the InnerSphere. Thanks to the everyday workers of the Confederation production is up in several critical areas. Additionally several traditional Capellan firms like the Capellan Commonalty Bank, Asuncion Industries, Firmir Commercial, and Lustrix Commodities report increasing profits to the state. Clearly things are looking up for our nation but there are still some areas of concern.

Periphery Bandits

Liao (Capellan Institute Press)

With the great Exodus of General Kerensky and the last vestiges of order imposed by the Star League beginning to breakdown there has been an upswing in violent border raids near the Periphery in recent years. While this problem isn’t unique to the Confederation a greater percentage of new bandit groups are now active in the Rimward Territories than almost anywhere else in known space. This sparsely settled region just beyond the Capellan zone of control has become a haven to all manner of riff raff since the SLDF withdrawal in 2767. At first House Liao took great pity on these unfortunate souls who were violently displaced by the Uprising even going so far as to offer aid. Our generosity has sadly been repaid with a string of unprovoked pirate attacks.
