December 5, 2785

The Ronin Regiments have finally overcome their initial opposition to complete their first strikes in the Great Contest. While this victory came on time and according to schedule the Ronin’s commander, General Daisuke Toyotomi, expressed extreme disappointment. Despite concluding operations by the High Command’s deadline of December 1, 2785 finishing second to the Gaijin Regiments was clearly not something he or his troops desired. Many have criticized these “masterless” warriors for their questionable battlefield performance. Some say the Ronin make excellent warriors but poor soldiers especially when compared to the “foreigners” commanded by General Ramses Vron. While tactically superior some analysts call the Toyotomi’s troops strategically challenged.

Algedi (Voice of the Dragon)
November 15, 2785

The Gaijin Regiments of General Ramses Vron have surprisingly bested the Ronin during the opening phases of the Great Contest. Despite their strange ways these soldiers have once again proven the wisdom of our glorious Coordinator, Minoru Kurita. Their foreign service or heritage led many native Draconians to question their martial abilities and level of commitment our nation. Even after this initial success some still insist that these outsiders of questionable worth fought inferior opposition when compared to their “masterless” competitors. No doubt Lord Kurita’s shrewd utilization of these suspect military assets factored heavily in their favor but their achievement in the first phase of this grand challenge cannot be denied.

Luthien (Voice of the Dragon)
September 5, 2785

Greetings loyal supporters of House Kurita. Today I am honored and very proud to bring you historic news. Our glorious Coordinator has announced the tentative creation of the long awaited fifth District of the Draconis Combine. The magnitude of this grand announcement has yet to be fully realized but it immediately touched off widespread celebrations throughout the realm. The Dragon’s citizenry appreciate the special importance of five as the establishment of a new District signals the approach of our collective destiny.

The Ministry of Wealth and the Disbursing of Assets recently confirmed that the Draconis Combine has the most vibrant economy in the InnerSphere today. While this financial strength does not yet surpass the Lyran Commonwealth and the Free Worlds League our growth in this area is impressive. This monetary gain could be one of several indicators that clearly show House Kurita as the next rulers of the Star League. Certainly this new influx helps our great state in more tangible ways than one. It has already allowed us to increase military spending which will further improve our already formidable national defense.

Trondheim (Jane’s Military Review)
September 1, 2785

The Eridani Light Horse have once again refused to sign a mercenary contract with the Draconis Combine.  The Eridani Light Horse, or more formally the 3rd RCT of the SLDF, have been station on Trondheim and surrounding worlds in the Rasalhague Military District ever since the end of the Amaris Coup.  Despite intense loyalty to General Kerensky, the RCT refused to partake in the Exodus, due largely to the ties the unit had developed with the people of their home worlds of Trondheim, Sendai, Leoben and Susquehanna.

Hagiwawa (Office of Information)

Our benevolent Coordinator, Minoru Kurita, continues his efforts to let humanity accept the gift of his wisdom. The barbaric and indecent House Steiner and Davion continue to oppress their populations in order to keep them from accepting our divine blessings.
The brave sons of the Dragon continue to show restraint in dealing with the foolish behavior of the new state under the naive Amanda Cameron. The misinformed child continues to warn our beloved leader not to enlighten her subjects who so recently faced years of mistreatment under the uncivilized denizens of the Periphery.
I respectfully thank you for joining me in praising our guiding light in his kindness and wisdom towards the uneducated masses bordering worlds blessed with his protection.
In closing remember that Wednesday is public service day and all citizens are reminded to show their devotion to order by completing their community bunkers in case these misled neighbors choose to test the Dragon’s mercy.

All seems quiet along the newly established Draconis Front and to paraphrase a very old cliché it is too quiet. The TRAS has dug in all along the border with the Combine and now waits for the inevitable. For some units, like the Altairian Star Cavalry, the impending conflict is already too real. However, even on the contested world of Altair the situation can best be described as static. House Kurita has made no move to expand its occupation zone since the fall of the Star League.
