Hoping to expand his holdings and re-create his own perverse version of the Star League, the Dragon has lashed out at his peaceful neighbors. The attacks on Trolloc Prime, Gram, Chimpaw, Kingtribel, and Shimosuwa are the acts of war, a full-scale war to swallow the spinward territory of the Tamar Pact. Stymied by Lady Cameron’s refusal to give up the Terran Republic and obviously never content with the size of his current dominion, Lord Kurita has done what any spoiled child would do; take what he wanted. Not only has he taken a chunk out of the Republic, his tantrum has cost our Commonwealth worlds we cannot afford to lose.

During the past week, Draconis Combine forces have audaciously invaded Lyran Commonwealth territory. In a brazen move to expand his domain, the Dragon has sent several combined BattleMech and conventional units to the worlds of Trolloc Prime, Gram, Shimosuwa, Chimpaw, and Kingtribel. Using a series of simultaneous strikes, the local garrisons of these worlds were quickly overwhelmed by the sheer size of the DCMS forces. As this article goes to publication, valiant LCAF and Militia forces are doing their best to drive these invaders off the worlds they are sworn to defend.

The grave is nearly five hundered meters long, and only three meters deep, but it’s ten meters wide, and it’s one of dozens, maybe even hundereds of mass graves on this former member-world of the Rim Worlds’ Republic. Our guide estimated that over four thousand people are buried here, most of them as yet unidentified. My escort, from the Lyran Foreign Relations office, tells me that LCAF units are still trying to locate some of the older mass-graves. She tells me this while trying to hold back tears.

An unknown group of raiders enter the Bone Norman star system on August 6th using a pirate point to rapidly approach the planet. This “bandit” threat force composed of unmarked BattleMechs and Aerospace Fighters was at least battalion strength when it struck our positions. Unlike other pirate or rebel attacks of the past these raiders were precise and highly disciplined. Many believe the Draconis Combine had a hand in this ferocious strike.

In a speech yesterday General Thomas Kearny, Margrave of the Tamar Theater declared the “LCAF is unprepared for war”.  The General cited numerous problems facing the LCAF and called on the Archon to institute immediate reforms.  Speaking in front of a meeting of the local LCAF Veterans Association, his remarks were met with cheers from the crowd.

Kommandant Richard Hahnefeld, spokesman for the Lyran Commonwealth High Command, announced today that several Mercenary units have been hired to supplement existing garrison defenses. When questioned, he would not divulge the world to which they would be posted, citing military security concerns. Speculation is rampant among the journalistic corps as to the worlds to which these units will be posted. Among those Mercenary units enlisted is the 23rd Republic Light Lancers, also known by their nickname “the Stealths”. They are a combined-arms BattleMech regiment in the light to medium classification. They gained notoriety as one of the units of the Rim Worlds Republic, a house unit of the notorious Amaris family.
