The Free Worlds League has long been known as the “Gateway to the Stars” for its leadership role in the production of dropships and jumpships. With over 35 shipyards, the League produces a wide range of vessels from small Explorer and Merchant class jumpships to the massive Varyag class carriers. Every sort of dropship needed by the Free Worlds League Navy and the civilian fleets are also manufactured at these shipyards. The production capability of the League’s shipyards is so impressive that other nations would come here seeking ships for their fleets.

Today, Central Command announced the start of a military campaign to restore peace to the troubled worlds of the former Hegemony. This effort dubbed Operation Avalanche is being led personally by Captain-General Kenyon Marik and includes military elements from every Province in the Free Worlds League. At this time details of the offensive remain sketchy because of necessary operational security which is maintained closely by SAFE. It is reported however that a full third of the FWLM maybe participating in this massive action. Thanks to foreign news services we also know that at least ten Terran star systems, possibly more, are currently under attack. Further information will no doubt follow later today.

Acting upon a bill introduced by several Members of Parliament, the Parliament has ordered an investigation on Hillian Corporation (League Stock Market Symbol: HiCo), a Campoleone based company specialised in investments and assets management. It is an anonymous message sent to several MP that prompted them to pass this bill. According to MP Benita Forgione, “this patriot revealed several things showing that he or she had a good insight of Hillian Corporation and that his/her accusations could not be taken lightly.” According to several persons close to the Parliament, Hillian Corporation has been accused of being a mole for the Lyran Intelligence Corps with the intention of bringing chaos into the economy of the Free Worlds League

Presiding over today’s launch of the SS Water Angel, CEO and President of Curtiss Hydrosystems, Herman Wong again faced angry protests from investors.   Despite earning record profits, the company has once again decided against issuing a dividend, instead it has invested it’s profit into creating large stockpiles of TriFil water purification system components and 5 Iceships.  The Iceships, operated by the company’s Ryan Iceships Group, have been a prime target for investors.  With the development of cheap purification systems there has been less demand for the services of the Ryan group, primarily those few systems which are completely lacking in water supplies.  As a result the division has seen numerous cutbacks and layoffs ever since it was acquired by Curtiss in 2668.  These 5 Iceships are the first such vessels to have been built in over 200 years and many investors want to know why.
