The Chancellor’s Military Reform

Once more our beloved Chancellor has shown her concern for her people in those dark times. She has decided in the best interest of all Capellans that tax levels would increase by 5%. The funds raised will not be used to fuel war (unlike our warmonger neighbors of House Marik and House Davion) but to increase the efficiency of the “New Model Army”, which is currently being built.
This new army relies both on the efficiency of the veteran units of the former Star League Defense Forces that have decided to back up our cause and on our dedicated and efficient Capellan units. To increase their lethal efficiency, our great Chancellor has decided to increase the focus on combined-arms units of a regimental size, which are strong enough to defend key targets or to counterstrike but not strong enough to launch independent offensive operations, like those undertaken by the Marik brigades. This is the perfect illustration of the peace loving mentality of our great Chancellor.
According to our latest reports, these regiments should be made of one heavy BattleMech battalion (combining front line designs and fire-support ones), one Tank battalion, one Mechanized Infantry battalion, one of the brand new specialized Artillery battalion and a Squadron of Aerospace Fighters. So far two units have been refitted and are going through extensive training: the Capellan Cuirassiers and the 1st Saint Ives Lancers (a unit that was destroyed in a traitorous attack by the Federated Suns). If everything goes along the planned lines, these changes should be implemented to more units in the future.
